Sunday Ride

Veloist Ride Notice

See you there.

New Starting Place for Rides

Veloist Ride Notice

We have a new starting point for all Veloist rides. Walmart Rt. 173 and Deep Lake Road.

The last few years have seen a large increase in the volume and speed of traffic in the Gurnee area. Specifically on Hunt Club, Wadsworth, Millburn and Stearns School roads. Not to mention the terrible road conditions on Dilley’s, Beck and Sandlake roads to name a few.

So the elders of the tribe thought it might be in all of our best interests to start our rides from a location closer to where we really like to go the most, north and west. By starting at the Walmart on the corner of 173 and Deep Lake road we are minutes from smooth Wisconsin blacktop and fewer cars. We pass this location on every ride north, now we’ll start here.

For some, this will be a minor inconvenience. For others it may mean you have to jump in your car to start your ride, we’ve all had to at some point.

For all of us, we think this will mean safer group riding for all Veloist members. Let’s hope we are right.

Weekend Ride Report

Veloist Ride Report

I don’t always take the time to write a ride report but I needed to say something very important this week.

Thank you.

For all the Veloist riders on Saturday’s ride, thank you.

You rode as a real team this weekend, everyone taking turns at the front as we motored up to Twin Lakes. And then working together through the long stretches to Wilmot and the rollers around the lake, you were all respectful and patient with the varied fitness levels of team mates. This is what I love about being a Veloist.

And the way home into the wind was even more impressive. We stayed together as a two-by-two rotating pace line for more than twenty miles with an average speed of 18mph, into the wind. That is team work defined. Well done.

Our Sunday ride wasn’t as long or as difficult but we did stay together as we look to encourage newer members skills and fitness levels.

A hardy thank you to all that rode this weekend, as we raise our arms in the air and increase our testosteron levels, I look forward to seeing you all next Saturday.

Mike
