Ride Schedule

Our Weekly Group Rides

Our goal is to have fun and stay fit. We encourage tight group pace lines with an emphasis on safety and team togetherness. We will be riding together on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

These are NO-DROP Rides, for Veloist Club members, we start together, we finish together. We take care of our Veloist Cycling Team members but you must meet these guidelines. You must be on a road bike with no aero bars. You must wear a helmet. The Saturday pace will between 17 and 24 mph on a 50 mile ride depending on the conditions. If you can’t do this please don’t expect us to wait for you. We understand the difference between having a “bad” day in the saddle or not being in condition to participate. This is your responsibility to the team.

The Sunday Rides will be considerably slower and geared toward newer cyclist developing road skills and fittness needed for mid and late summer event rides.

SUMMER RIDES

Saturday Road Ride (Summer)

7AM Lindenhurst Health and Fitness Club Gurnee, Rt 45 and Falling Waters Drive

50 to 75 miles with a 18-19 mph average. No surges but speeds may go up to 24. This is an endurance fitness ride with stops, so bring plenty of food and drink. The mileage will continue to climb during the season as we train for endurance events.

Sunday Ride (Summer)

8AM Lindenhurst Health and Fitness Club Gurnee, Rt 45 and Falling Waters Drive

20-35 miles, this ride is a short recovery ride with Average speeds of 16 mph. No surges or speed work. This ride is geared to building the skills and endurance of less experienced riders. The goal would be to have a fitness level by mid-summer for charity and fun events like local century rides. This is also a great recovery ride for Saturday riders.

WINTER RIDES

Saturday Trail Ride (Winter)

8AM Des Plains River Trail parking lot, Kilbourne Road between Grand and 41 in Gurnee, IL. 30 miles north or south. Cross and Mountain bikes, moderate to easy pace.

Sunday Ride (Winter)

8AM Butera Market, Lindenhurst

20-30 miles, this ride is an easy Cross and Mountain bike ride on local roads and trails in Lindenhurst and Gurnee. We will ride some roads to get to trails in search of coffee or food, the real reason we ride.

What we expect from Riders

You will be expected to be on a bicycle in good, safe condition and have the tools and materials needed to make minor repairs. The group will stop to assist anyone in need and obey all traffic laws.

ICE (In Case of Emergency) should be on your phone or written on your person. Safety is our biggest concern and ride leaders will ask unsafe riders to remain behind the group or away if needed. Rules and routes will be discussed prior to rolling each ride. All communications will be posted on the Veloist Facebook page.
