3-Day 300 Miles

Veloist 3 Day 350

For those of you that are joining or still considering joining the 3-Day 300 Ride July 18, 19 and 20 here is a basic milage build to help you get ready.

We have about five weeks to go and you will need to build your miles each week. Our Weekend Rides will provide the “big” rides of the week but you will need to add more during the week. The closer to the weekend ride, the better. There is no doubt we can all do the century ride, the trick is doing it three times in a row. So you need to condition your body and eating habits to get ready.

Week one | Sat 75 | Sun 50 | 25 | 25 mid week | 175

Week two | Sat 90 | Sun 50 | 25 | 25 mid week | 190

Week three | Sat 75 | Sun 75 | 25 | 25 mid week | 200

Week four | Sat 75 | Sun 75 | 50 | 25 mid week | 225

Week five | Light rides | Rest to Event

You should also consume large amounts of beer after your training rides, since we will be doing that also on the event days. Conditioning should take in all parts of the ride.

We are working on the routes and a place to stay.

Doughnuts, scrapes and holes.

The weather was great for riding this weekend and we took full advantage of it both days.

On Saturday we headed north west to Twin Lakes for a 55 mile road ride with sunshine and smooth roads. Me, Al, Isasio and Jim T made the trip with a stop at the bakery in town for coffee and Jim T’s favorite shoulder recovery food. Feed a cold, feed a fever, feed a broken collar bone–it’s all good.

Sunday found me, Isasio and Scott on the local trails working on our CX mounting and dismounting skills. I mastered the dismount with a well timed face plant in the wet grass sending me sliding on to a sidewalk. The elbow doesn’t hurt as much as the big hole in my new jersey does. Time to take out the needle and thread. That’s two small injuries for me on the Cross Bike this week, maybe I’m not so good at this.

Get out and ride this week, we’ll see you next weekend. Ride safe.
