The end of summer has slammed the back screen door shut on cycling and we are once again faced with shorter, cooler and usually wetter days of riding. Not to worry all of this means great gravel and trail rides along with cyclocross races and events. And if you don’t like any of that, well at least there is always the glorious change of colors as you roll by and the leaves turn brilliant rust, burnt oranges and radiant shades of gold.
A change of color.
Many of my watercolor cycling art paintings capture the races and places we love to ride. Events we attend, famous climbs and of course the races we all watch. This late summer as fall rolls in I took a little detour of sorts down a more whimsical path than usual. I hope you can take a few minutes and take a look at some of my latest work as the leaves change colors, I had a little more fun with the paintings. With my favorite wet on wet watercolor painting technique I’ve splashed, dripped and sloshed may way across the paper surface. Creating what I hope you might agree is a simple, more graphic but controlled chaos of images. You can’t always predict where the paint may wander, but controlling the floods is all the more fun for me. You can see more Watercolors here.

Change is in the air.
I do hope you like the new work, as an artist I’m always chasing new ideas and ways of doing things. How to stay fresh but still relevant to my audience and true to my personal aesthetic. Trying new things allows room for growth for both you as followers and me as a maker of images. So maybe you share these with a friend or spouse, who knows you might even get the okay to buy one.
Thanks for sharing my ride, — Michael
