Now that I’m a Grandpa my pen seems to be drawn into new areas of interest — yes — Cycling Art for little folks. I’ve started with some obvious connections back to nursery rhymes, but I’m excited about exploring this new area much further.
The Three Blind Mice, Humpty Dumpty and the Three Little Pigs were a blast to draw in pen and ink. I then photographed the original images and digitized the art for reproduction. Not how I usually work, but a tried and true way to go about creating artwork that allows multiple color variations.
My hope is of course to keep pushing in this area with new characters I create and eventually finding stories that need to be told.
This image of Four Friends on a Spring Ride is an example. I think the story of a Tree that finds a bike and finally gets to see the world is a good one, I just need the time to tell it. I’ll get to it.
