With the end of the Vuelta a España, Cyclocross season officially opens—in my book anyway.
So I’m heading north to Waterloo, Wisconsin next weekend to watch and draw at the Trek CXC Cup races September 16-18th. These are not just local CX races, this event is part of the UCI World Cup points and the big boys and girls will be on hand to give us a show.
I won’t be racing, big surprise, I’ll be scouting and drawing concept pictures for new cyclocross work I’m doing this fall.
While I’m a roadie at heart I spend a fair amount of my riding time on the trails and I’ve tasted a good amount of dirt and mud and getting a chance to see the pros ride is always a treat.
Over the past couple of years I’ve created a few Cyclocross Art Prints for my collection and I’m hoping to add a new one this year. The work I do at the TREK CXC Cup race next week will be a big help in finding a concept for a new print.
In the past I’ve created Art Prints for other cyclocross events like Hoogerheide, Tabor, Providence Cross and a while ago a TREK US Gran Prix. So now I’m back at it up in Waterloo. If you go to the event and you see a guy walking around with a big sketch book – that’s me. Stop and say hello, I might even share my flask with you.
More cow bell!
