I love this time of the year, cyclocross season, and the transition from summer to winter in the Midwest where I live. It’s not because I’m a CX racer, no far from it, it’s mostly because I get to slow down on my bike and get off the roads with all the cars. I love road riding, but the constant pressure of traffic can wear on you after a long season of riding.
With my club’s trail riding, the Veloist CC, we talk more, eat more and generally enjoy more of the rides we take. Winter in the Midwest is long so finding a way to stay on our bikes for as long as we can is very important. Cyclocross and trail riding does that for us.
My latest image “CX Hoogerheide” was inspired by the upcoming 2014 UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Hoogerheide, Netherlands. The championship colors spinning in the wheels, the yellow clogs and windmills of the Netherlands all playing a part in the work. I may not be a CX racer but I love the spectacle of the sport, the endurance and like everyone, the mud. I hope you enjoy.
