“Disc Wars” The battle for peloton supremacy.

The question I have is “What’s all the noise over road bike Disc Brakes?” Since I’ve been riding my bike for over thirty years I have to say that being able to stop faster has never been an issue.

The bigger problem has always been how can I go faster?

I think this might all just be a distraction by the marketing companies because they don’t have anything new to sell us this year.

I personally don’t even like how they look on road bikes. They take away the nice clean lines of just having a wheel. I’ve watched the Tour de France and many other road races for years and can’t ever remember when the ability to stop was ever a big issue.

Don’t get me wrong, I think they do have a place on Mountain Bikes and CX Bikes where mud and wet conditions are always creating issues with stopping power.

But really, road bikes? Maybe on occasion, but not so much.

So I guess we’ll just have to watch as the marketing giants duke it out until one of them wins it all. Or, better yet, one of them comes up with something new–to make me go faster.
