I live in a cycling wonderland. Out the door I’m five miles from the south eastern Wisconsin border near Lake Michigan, 50 miles north of Chicago. Most of my riding is on county roads with very little traffic and very big open spaces.
Our Veloist Cycling Club usually rides one of four big loops with Paris, Wisconsin in the center of it all. We ride to Lake Geneva and around for hills. Same with our rides to Burlington. Our rides up and around Paris are open and rolling so we get to practice our pace lines against the wind, and there is always wind.
Last but not least, our rides to Kenosha along Lake Michigan are my favorites because they always involve coffee stops. And coffee stops are very important.
It may not be the exotic landscapes you see in France, the white roads of Tuscany or the high peaks of the Alps but like the old saying goes…There’s no place like home.
Cheese, anyone?
