They say “Love is many things” … I say “Love is Bikes”.
I’ve been drawing a version of my “Love Bike” for a few years now. Mostly in the digital format because that’s where I spend the bulk of my time. Until recently that is.
It seems lately I’m trying to bust out anything I can create an image with. Pen and ink, paint – tried some fruit and vegetable sculptures but I kept eating the elements. Gave that up. Experimenting is fun but I keep coming back to the same images. My Love Bikes.
My latest explorations in the studio has me painting my “Love Bikes” on hard board with acrylic paints. The big easy color and painting way outside the lines freaks out my inner digital dude like you wouldn’t believe but I’m getting happy with the results. I love the simplicity of the idea, even if the work looks a bit simple. They make me smile and that’s all this is really about isn’t it?
The plan at the moment is to keep chasing this idea. I’m fairly confident my “Love Bike” will continue to find it’s way into many more drawings and paintings. Sometimes it’s the simple ideas like this, that last the longest.
The images on this page are “samples” of how my 24×36 inch paintings could look if you framed them. They are for sale – unframed.
