Queen for a day.
I am no expert but like everyone else I have my favorites for winning this year’s 2016 Paris-Roubaix, the best one-day race on the planet.
Since like I said I’m no expert and not qualified to pick potential winners from a skill, riding style and fitness point of view I need to consider more. So I’ve added in the additional criteria of – “How would the winner look in a Queen’s gown?”
That’s right, if you’re going to win the Queen of the Classics – Paris-Roubaix, I believe it would fitting that you should have to wear a classic Queen’s Ball Gown on the podium. I don’t think you should have to race in it that would be silly, just get your picture taken holding flowers.
Hands down my first choice would be Peter Sagan. Since he has come to his senses and started to shave his legs again there is no doubt in my mind he could pull this thing off with grace. I can’t speak for his condition and if he’s recovered from winning Flanders but he has a good shot.
Fabian Cancellara is my second favorite. I think he really wants it and I don’t think he’d look bad in the Queen’s Ball Gown as long as it matched his Trek kit. He’s won before so he knows what it takes to be Queen for a day.
Finally my third pick would come around to anyone named Ian. And since Sky has the highest incidence of Ian’s on their team, I’ll take any of them. Also if any of the Brits had to wear a Queen’s crown and dress I think it would be very funny.
Well those are my picks, we’ll see what happens this Sunday when we watch the 2016 Paris-Roubaix. Queen of the Classics.
