TDF 2020 Nice | Cycling Art Print
Nice to Paris, so French.
This year the Tour de France started in the south of France, bathed in warm sunshine, bright blue waters and gentle evening breezes, this is living. Unless you’re being chased by 180 or so professional bicycle riders on a mad dash, three week race back to Paris!
In this version of my annual TdF Cycling Art Prints I’ve made an effort to capture the bright colors and playfulness of the French coastal city of Nice where the Tour begins.

Sparta Wisconsin, Bicycling Capitol of America – Sparta is a small midwest town in the center of Wisconsin surrounded by endless miles of great cycling roads and trails. Best known for the Elroy – Sparta Trail along the old rail road beds. And Ben Bikin’, the iconic penny farthing cyclist at the entrance of the town.

UCI 2023 Masters CX | Valenti Bicycling Poster
On December 1-3, 2023 the UCI Cyclocross Masters Men’s and Woman’s races will be held in Hamburg, Germany. I was fortunate to be given the assignment to create the official image used in the marketing and merchandising of the event.
I submitted a range of concepts and after their review with the organizers, I was very excited to hear they were willing and enthusiastic about using a female image to represent the event, traditionally this is male territory. But they loved the strong, heroic and dramatic look I created using the UCI rainbow as the woman’s ponytail.
The silhouette of the freight ship is there to identify with the port of Hamburg, the host city. And the other cyclist gives us a little more cyclocross imagery for those who need it. After all it is about bike racing. I love how this Cycling Art Print turned out, I hope you do as well.

I took a trip up to Door County, Wisconsin and was amazed at all the apple and cherry trees. You would think having lived here so long now that I would have known, but I didn’t, so a made an apple on a bike to remember it next time. Oh, wonderful riding up there too.

Pavé | Watercolor Bicycling Art Print
This Valenti Watercolor Bicycling Art Print was created to celebrate the Spring Classics like Paris-Roubaix held on cobbles every year. It is available here without text.
The Pavé (Cobblestones), make up a vital part of the Paris-Roubaix race route. With stones as large as “baby heads” according to the Belgians, these brutal, rural roads just eat bicycles, wheels and riders. Saved from the horrible fate of being smoothed over with asphalt, the pavé are here to stay.
Paris-Roubaix just wouldn’t be the same without the stones. This print was made from an original watercolor painting.

Paris-Roubaix Stones | Valenti Cycling Art Print
You must love the stones!
The cobblestones of Paris-Roubaix have been reeking havoc on riders since 1896. This spring monument leaves no room for the weak. Wet or dry the stones grind down the riders leaving only the strongest of cyclist able to even finish the day. So this year I created my tribute to the hard men and women that make this brutal race one of the most beautiful one day races in the world.
There have been many well known quotes about Paris-Roubaix, I like this one; “Paris-Roubaix is a horrible race to ride but the most beautiful one to win.” – Sean Kelly
But my favorite comes from the great documentary film, Road to Roubaix where Peter Van Petegem was talking about what it takes to win Roubaix and said; “You must love the stones.” Indeed you must.

La Vuelta 21 | Cycling Art Print
The Tour of Spain.
The third and final of the annual men’s road racing Grand Tours, La Vuelta España! This 76th edition will depart from Burgos and finish in Santiago de Compostela.
I’ve created this print with eye toward power and speed – bold red fills the page as our cycling matador takes the bike by the horns and chases the Maillot Rojo – the winners, Red Jersey.

Giro 2021 | 90 Maglia Rosa | Cycling Art Print
Celebrating 90 years!
With this Cycling Art Print we are celebrating the Giro d’Italia Maglia Rosa ( Pink Jersey ) worn by the winner and leader of the Giro. Today she is ninety years old! Like the yellow jersey of the Tour de France, the Pink Jersey comes from the pink pages of La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper – still sponsoring the Giro today!
In the painting we see our cyclist standing atop the leaning tower of Pisa grabbing pink jerseys as they fall from the sky.

Monterey | Cannery Row | Valenti Bicycling Poster
Hang loose.
Monterey | Cannery Row in California is a fabulous place to take a bike ride. The waterfront trails along the shoreline showcase the areas beauty and abundant wildlife. I’ve ridden the surrounding area along the trails and south to Carmel where I bought a very nice hat. If you’re a road rider there’s always the PCH nearby for a ride down to Big Sur, fabulous scenic ocean views if you’re brave enough to ride the road. Monterey is also home to the biggest cycling party and expo in the US – The Sea Otter Classic, if you get a chance to go, take it.

Muur G | Valenti Bicycling Poster
On the top of the Muur van Geraardsbergen sits a small brick chapel. You’ve seen it a thousand times and I’ve been there. And it is every bit as magical a place as you might imagine it to be.
Without a question it is an iconic cycling location. Like Mont Ventoux or Alpe d’Huez, a holy place where thousands of cycling enthusiast and fans flock each spring to watch history play out on the cobbles leading to the top.
It’s never a finishing spot in a race but most often a decisive move is made here and while you don’t win on the Muur, you can certainly loose.
The Original Painting is on 40×60 inch canvas, painted with acrylics. I used a combination of brushes and pallet knives to achieve the textured effect. I must confess I’m rather happy with the result. I hope this print can find a place in your home reminding you daily how much you love cycling and the history of this great sport.
