Paris Roubaix 1896 | Cycling Art Print
Queen of the Classics
The Paris-Roubaix race first ran in 1896 and has been torturing cyclists ever since. It is known as “The Hell of the North” because of the difficult road and weather conditions that rage throughout the area. With cobblestone sectors and wind-swept fields, this “Queen of the Classics” is an annual favorite among cycling fans everywhere, and a right of passage for any likely classics champion.

Col du Tourmalet | Cycling Art Print
Original Bicycle Print
Made famous in many Tour de France stages, the legendary Col du Tourmalet puts riders to the test year after year. As part of Stage 18, racing from Pau to Hautacam, this 145 kilometer stage turns violently upward 95 kilometers into the day. The Col is where true climbers and GC contenders have their final opportunity in the mountains to claim victory in Paris.
Michael’s Col du Tourmalet bicycle print celebrates the famous 2115 meter hors catégorie climb with old school style and grace. As our rider ascends into the clouds, we can only wonder what this grueling road must be like in the heat of competition.

Tour de France Dreams | Cycling Art Print
In the Tour de France some dreams will come true and many will not. I for one am looking forward to watching every day and drawing as many pictures as I can while each stage plays out. This drawing was made in 2016 and is still one of the best selling prints I have.
And while I know I’ll never ride in the Tour, I know I can always go for a visit – if you wish hard enough, your dreams may come true
The print comes in just one size, 18×24 and is printed on the same 310g fine art paper as all my prints.

Ventoux | Giant of Provence | Cycling Art Print
Mont Ventoux has been an icon in the Tour de France since 1951 with its legendary lunar landscape and ever changing dangerous weather conditions. The striking white tower that stands atop this mighty mountain calls to many a bicycle rider to make pilgrimage and best this lonely, unforgiving road. Bon courage.

Vuelta a España | Cycling Art Print
The running of the bikes.
Every September UCI Pro Cyclists race around the beautiful country of Spain for three weeks. Inspired by the success of the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta a España (Tour of Spain) is one of the most challenging stage races on the cycling calendar.
In this image we see the cyclist as matador playing the bull as the roses fall from the sky. The red cape of the matador matches the red jersey of the Vuelta leader.

Tour de France Saint Michel | Cycling Art Print
Mont Saint Michel
This year the 2016 Tour de France will start in the shadow of Mont Saint Michel as it travels around the country for the month of July. This dramatic backdrop has been host to other Tour race days and no doubt will offer us breathtaking vistas of the peloton racing away from this historic location.
My vintage flavored drawing of this poster uses the Red, White and Blue of the French flag along with the “Maillot Jaune” – Yellow Jersey. Complete with goggles, a spare tire and of course a handlebar mustache our cyclist represents the romantic era of the Tour de France classic days of cycling.

TDF 2020 | Turned Upside Down | Cycling Art Print
Cycling world on its head!
The 2020 Covid-19 pandemic has hammered the planet in ways that have been unimaginable – it has also weighed heavily on the cycling world. With the cancellations and moving of so many local and World Tour events we’ve never seen anything like this before.
So I’ve turned the iconic symbol of France on its head, The Cycling World is Upside Down.
The original painting, this print is made from, was a labor of love to be sure, there are three other versions under the final painting as I looked for the perfect image to capture the chaos in the world today. For me this work represents a symbolic milestone as I continue to look for images that have greater impact on the viewer.
I think anyone that hangs this print in their home, this print will carry strong memories of a world in distress and the power of the human spirit to find a way to move forward.

Cyclocross Tabor CZE | Cycling Art Print
2015 Cyclocross World Championships Poster
The cold. The wet. The fans. And the mud. Always the mud.
I love cyclocross races — its up close and personal. It’s loud, hard and fast. Cyclocross is about power and smarts, but mostly it’s about pain and hard work. Frozen, wet, covered in mud and tired we ride on to finish. We ride on to win.
This is my interpretation of how every rider we pass or that passes us – sticks with us. As we revel in the glory and the mud, and as we push ourselves outside the comfort zone.

Ride Solo 2020 | Cycling Art Print
Mind your gap while riding.
We will not soon forget the world wide pandemic that shut down the planet in the winter and spring of 2020. As a result of social distancing to help contain the Covid-19 virus from spreading more, the cycling world was also shut down. Every person on the planet was asked to shelter in place, stay at home and if you were lucky enough to be able to go out and ride at all, it was Ride Solo.
#RideSolo has become the way of the cycling world, for how long we don’t know yet. Be safe, ride smart and we will endure.
One size only, 18×24 on heavyweight watercolor paper. Very nice for framing.

The 2016 Giro d’Italia started in Apeldoorn and spent three days in the Netherlands before heading to Italy for the remainder of the tour. There’s no question the Dutch cycling fans will be out to paint the town pink for this historic event. Without a question “Pink is the new Orange” at least for a few days in May.
