Carten 100 | Dragon | Cycling Art Print
Carten 100 | Dragon | Cycling Art Print

Cardiff to Tenby, Wales.

This print was commissioned by the Carten 100 Team to raise funds with an obvious connection in the rider with the tail and eye of the Welsh Dragon.

CARTEN100 is not a race, but a fun day out with more experienced riders helping and encouraging those who have less experience and confidence. Each year, riders return fitter and keener and on newer, better bikes but they bring their friends, family and work colleagues with them to enjoy the challenge.

From the outset of CARTEN100 the two main objectives of this fun cycle are to set an achievable challenge for novice riders to encourage them to become fit and enjoy cycling, and to raise money for good causes – almost ‘half a million pounds’ raised so far!

No. 9 | Winter Ride Series

Nine in the Series. Winter cycling for me is all about slowing down and embracing the world around me. Much of which is covered in snow or frozen still. I ride in the open landscapes of the midwestern states north of Chicago on the Wisconsin line. Filled with farms at rest and wooded trails I’m grateful for the times I can get outside.

This series was created by dragging paint across the paper without a brush and then pen and ink details.

Starting to Snow | Original Cycling Art

Not a sound.

The moment the snow just starts to fall, that’s what I’m looking to capture here. You’re on a ride alone in the woods, it’s cold but not uncomfortable cold. And quiet. So quiet you think you can hear the snow flakes as they gently hit your sleeve.

This painting is my second canvas in the Winter Ride Series. I’ve completed nine smaller studies and now I’m scaling up trying to better capture the expanse of the world I love cycling in, Wisconsin.

This painting is 30×48 inches on stretched canvas. The canvas will ship flat in US. If you have any questions about this work please contact me.

Wisconsin Winter, Milton | Original Cycling Art
Wisconsin Winter, Milton | Original Cycling Art

Highway TK, Milton, Wisconsin

Winter in Wisconsin can be a difficult place to ride your bike unless you find comfort in frozen roads, icy winds and vast rolling landscapes of dormant wheat fields like I do. Slowing down in winter follows the way of nature and I’m happy to oblige. I have a few friends that will brave the elements with me but many rides are made in solitude.

This painting is my first large canvas in my Winter Ride Series of paintings. I’ve completed nine small studies and now I’m scaling up trying to better capture the expanse of the world I love cycling in, Wisconsin.

This painting is 84×48 inches on stretched canvas. The canvas will roll for shipping, some simple assembly is required to display. If you have any questions about this work please contact me.

What support vehicle?

Back in the day, before GPS, computers, disk brakes, helmets, and a load of other improvements to the pro peloton there was – FIY – Fix It Yourself!

You carried your own food, tools and tubular tires. You flatted, you fixed it. You need water, you found it. And they call these the glory days of cycling. Well maybe not in every way but I do rather like the look of the “infinity” wings I’ve given to my peloton of day’s gone by.

I think they make a rather nice pattern you don’t see anymore.

This painting is 36×48 inches on stretched canvas. The canvas will be removed from the wood stretchers and rolled for shipping. If you have any questions about this work please contact me.

The world is better on a bike.

When we ride we become part of the environment, part of the landscape. Exposed to the world we experience all the elements, sun, wind, rain, noise, the list is endless.

This one in a series of prints titled – Veloist | The world is better on a bike. I’ll explore many more elements as times goes on. You can purchase them with or without the copy and logo as you like.

It comes in just one size, 18×24 and is printed on the same heavyweight watercolor paper as all my prints. Very nice paper for framing.

Be sure to select if you want the Type version that says “The World is Better on a Bike” with the Veloist logo. Or the no type version.
