Belgian Rain is just one more way for me to express my love of all cycling things Belgian. From the cobbles, the bergs, the classics, the beer, the riders. And especially the classic Belgian colors. Black, Yellow, Red and light Blue the colors of the Belgian national jersey. One of my most favorite iconic jerseys.
The painting is obviously very bold in color and paint texture looking very simple from a distance and more intricate and detailed as you get closer. If you’re looking for a big bang of color and a way to enjoy your love of cycling everyday, this is your painting.

Pearson | Cycling Art Print
Pearson Cycling is the oldest bicycle business in the world. Established in 1860 by Thomas Pearson and is still in the capable hands of the Pearson family. The shop has two locations, the original cycle shop is in Sutton, with a newer shop in Sheen, London.
My approach to this cycling art was a bit different than what I might usually do mostly because it gave me the opportunity to draw a Penny Farthing. I also created a “P” shape on the rider to make a nice connection back to the Pearson logo.

Controlling chaos.
Orange Rider | A very wet on wet watercolor painting of a cyclist in orange kit, an exercise in controlling the chaos that is watercolor painting.
I created this work as a study of color and watercolor management. The process is a bit like trying to control a flood, but that’s what I like about watercolors.

Glowing.
Golden Hour | A new approach for me using mixed media paints, watercolors, casein and charcoal on wood panel. Spray fixative and polished wax finish makes this glowing little painting come alive. This work is framed already as shown.
This was my first time working this way and it was significantly more of a labor of love, so I’m looking forward to many more variations in the future.

Iconic Caps | Long live the cycling cap! A great cap will never go out of style, at least that’s my opinion.
This work is painted using casein paints on wood panel. Then carefully I’ve sanded and scrapped color away, added more layers of color and repeated the process until I was satisfied with the image. With a polished bees wax finish this painting has a wonderful texture and sheen. This work is framed in a walnut finish already as shown and ready to hang in your home.

Madonna del Ghisallo | Valenti | Original Cycling Art
The spiritual home of cycling.
I’ve stood in the shadow of the chapel Madonna del Ghisallo in Italy and cried when they rang the bells as the riders in the 2019 Giro d’Italia raced up the climb. A very, very special painting for me to share. A very, very special place in my heart and the heart of so many.
As with all of my work I’ve taken liberties with the reality of a situation, in this case I’ve endeavored to capture the spirits of the past cycling decades with floating cyclists forever riding the winds. The facade of the chapel doesn’t have the Italian flag, it should. And for me the heart of the chapel is the Bianchi Celeste Green bell in the tower. I hope you enjoy the work.
The trim edge of the painting can be painted white or black as you wish.
