I mean the Spring Classics seriously Rock!
The Tour of Flanders was awesome. Paris-Roubaix was its usual epic day of pain. Paris-Roubaix Femmes was beyond words and Amstel Gold was just incredible! And we still have Liege-Bastogne-Liege before we head into the Grand Tours, I can barely see straight I’m so geeky excited.
Tour of Flanders
I don’t have to tell you what happened you already know, what I have to tell you is I think this Pogačar fellow is the real deal. He’s got speed on the flats, speed in the hills, speed on the big climbs and can time-trial like a freight train. When I drew this picture, which you can buy if you want to send me a note, it was after he rode away on the Koppenburg like it was smooth pavement. To top it all off he looks like he’s having fun – fun? Riding bikes is fun? Gotta love it.
Paris-Roubaix Femmes
Like Peter Van Petegem said years ago, “You must love the stones.” – Alison Jackson loves her big rock and earned it with guts, smarts, passion and legs of steel! Wow! Did that just blow you away, it did me. I cried happy tears of joy when she crossed the finish line in the Roubaix Velodrome. A stunning victory made possible by dreaming big and never giving up. That deserves a little dance so watch Alison, she likes to dance — Alison Jackson
Amstel Gold
He’s back…..Tadej Pogačar does it again. He flys on the stones, he powers away on climbs what a sensation he is and always fun to watch. When the moment hits him, he goes. I love that. I’m sure much of it is planned but as a spectator I always feel he’s going on his gut – Eddy Merckx style. Go when the others can’t. Control the race with power, that’s what I see when I watch him and I love it. Vive le Velo!
As you know any of these drawing are available if you send me a note and I’ll tell you more about them – they all need a good home. SEND ME A NOTE
