Europe in springtime.
Let’s just say all of Europe is in full bloom when it comes to cycling in the spring. I just love watching the Classics. Maybe because so many of the race days look like the harsh spring days I ride in Wisconsin. Windy, wet, cold and wonderful.
This painting was, is, a study for what I hope to be a digital drawing for my 2018 Paris-Roubaix. I have to do a new one every year, the Queen of the Classics can’t be ignored. And since my focus on creating new work is on iconic races, places and faces, Paris-Roubaix fits the bill.
If I ever get the chance to see some of the classic races in Europe in the spring I’d jump at it. But for now I’m pretty happy putting a personal appearance in at the Tour de France so the classics may have to wait a little longer. Well at least I get to ride some real cobbles this summer in Roubaix since it’s on the TdF route — that will be a big day for me, I’ll be sure to share it with you. Until next time, tune up your bike, program the DVR and ride safe. m
