The Oldest Bike Shop in the World

with No Comments

Pearson Cycles is the oldest bike shop in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records and I just finished a new cycling art image for them.

Established in 1860 by Thomas Pearson and still going strong in the capable hands of the Pearson family, the bike shop is now run by William Pearson and his brother Guy. The original cycle shop is in Sutton, with a newer shop in Sheen London.

My approach to this cycling art was a bit different than what I might usually do mostly because it gave me the opportunity to draw a Penny Farthing. I also created a “P” shape on the rider to make a strong connection back to the Pearson logo. But the color combinations was where I had the most fun and couldn’t land on just one set I liked so I decided to work with all three and make them all available.

This video from Pearson does a great job of telling their story and you can also visit their website at pearsoncycles.co.uk
