Brest to Paris!
The 108th edition, 2021 Tour de France will kick off in Brest, France this year as it races across the French countryside trying to make us all forget about 2020, Covid 19 and the Tour turned upside down.
With its start in Brest on the Brittany coast, then on to the Alps and finally the Pyrenees before the finish in Paris. Along the way the peloton will visit the legendary Mont Ventoux – twice! As if once isn’t hard enough. But hopefully with a little more relaxed atmosphere the race will start to return to feeling more normal, well normal for the Tour de France – its a mad, mad world in France in July, I wish I was going – maybe next year. Vive le Tour!
I’ve given this years Tour de France print a slightly more retro look that dates back to the famous Paris-Brest-Paris races starting back in 1891. With a simple red, white, blue and yellow palette the image connects with the colors of France and of course the Maillot Jaune.
The poster image was first conceived as a watercolor painting, allowing me to work out the concept using the Arc de Triomphe and a rider with hands raised to the heavens in victory. Both the prints and the original concept painting is available for purchase.
